South Indian food was on the menu for lunch this time, and that meant checking out a new cafe: The Malabar Coast in Sector 57, Gurgaon. Here’s the full walkthrough, from what we ordered to what it actually cost.
About The Malabar Coast Gurgaon
The Malabar Coast sits in a shopping complex in Sector 57, in the same complex as In The Punjab, a family restaurant that’s decent in its own right. But for an authentic South Indian taste, The Malabar Coast was the better pick on this visit. It’s a small, cozy restaurant with seating spread across two levels, one section downstairs and another upstairs.
Ambience & Service
Given the compact size, don’t expect a sprawling layout, but the space is used well. The staff were fast and courteous, and they even checked in for feedback during the meal, a nice touch that suggests they actually care about getting it right. Service came out quickly without ever feeling rushed.
What We Ordered
We tried three dosas: Mysore masala, ghee podi, and their garlic dosa, which turned out to be the restaurant’s signature item. All three were excellent, well made and genuinely flavorful, with the garlic dosa standing out the most. Alongside the dosas, we also ordered a dahi vada to start. All four items were solid on both quality and quantity, with nothing to complain about. Whether it’s lunch, dinner, or breakfast, the food quality here stays consistent.
Hygiene & Overall Experience
Hygiene was good throughout, and the staff’s behavior matched that standard. Taken together, it’s totally worth a visit, whether you’re planning a family lunch, a quick breakfast, or a relaxed dinner.
The Bill
Budget-wise, this is a pocket-friendly option. Four items in total, the three dosas and the dahi vada, came to around ₹1150 to ₹1200. That’s not going to put a real dent in your pocket, so it’s an easy pick for a family outing.
How It Compares
This is the second South Indian restaurant in Gurgaon that’s genuinely impressed on this front. Sambar Culture is the other one worth mentioning, along with Kinetic Cafe, both explored on separate visits. Verdict: Is The Malabar Coast Worth It?
Yes. Authentic taste, quick and courteous service, good hygiene, and a bill that won’t stretch your budget. If you’re craving dosa in Gurgaon and want something better than the usual chain options, The Malabar Coast in Sector 57 is a solid, recommended stop.
