White Musk Resort Sethan Village

White Musk Resort Sethan Review: What Instagram Did Not Show

I booked White Musk Resort after seeing the polished social media reels around its dome stay, valley view and private Jacuzzi. My visit felt very different from that presentation. There were things I liked, especially the night view, the Jacuzzi and the bonfire setting, but I didn’t feel the stay justified the price I was quoted.

This is my experience from that visit, not a claim that every guest will have the same stay. Prices, staff and property conditions can change, so check current details directly before paying.

The short answer before you book

White Musk Resort has a striking dome room and wide views towards the Manali valley. During my stay, though, the basic room details and service didn’t match the premium image I had seen online. At roughly ₹30,000 per night for the dome at that time, I expected much more care.

The video shows the property as I found it, including the dome, bathroom entrance, Jacuzzi area, bonfire space and the quiet atmosphere around the resort. It gives better context than a few carefully framed photographs.

What looked good in person

The Jacuzzi and bonfire area were the strongest parts of my stay. At night, with the lights across the valley and the cold mountain air, that corner felt calm and comfortable. The food was good too.

The view is attractive, but it isn’t exclusive to this property. Several stays along the Hamta and Sethan side look across the same valley, so I wouldn’t choose White Musk for the view alone.

Where the experience fell short

The bathroom entrance in the dome had a hanging curtain instead of the finished closure I expected at this price. The toiletries felt basic. Some of the decorative candles around the Jacuzzi were wet and the setup looked less carefully prepared than it had appeared in the promotional reels.

Service was the bigger disappointment for me. I mostly saw one person moving between different jobs, and the property didn’t feel staffed like a premium resort during my visit. The place was also very quiet, almost empty, which made the atmosphere feel flat rather than exclusive.

I want to be fair here. A quiet property can be exactly what some travellers want, and the food, Jacuzzi and bonfire were genuine positives. My issue was the gap between the price, the social media presentation and what I received on the ground.

Was the dome worth about ₹30,000?

For me, no. That was the approximate nightly price quoted during my visit, and I didn’t see enough in the room finish or service to support it. The dome photographs well, but a photogenic room isn’t enough when the basics feel underprepared.

Do not treat that figure as a current tariff. Resort prices change with dates and seasons, and you should confirm the complete amount, inclusions and cancellation terms before booking.

How this compared with my other mountain stays

I had previously stayed at Tree of Life Eila Art Hotel near Naggar in an infinity-view room. My experience there felt more polished and cost roughly half as much at that time. You can read my Naggar Village and Tree of Life stay experience before comparing the two.

On an earlier Sethan visit, I also stayed at a small place called Dream Hata. It was much simpler, but I remember the food and hospitality more warmly. This isn’t a like-for-like comparison, and old prices aren’t useful for a current booking, but it reminded me that a higher tariff doesn’t guarantee a better stay.

What the resort currently says

The official White Musk Resort website currently lists its location on the Hamta road near Prini, Manali. It promotes nearby activities such as a walk to a waterfall, a hike towards Jobri and visits to Sethan. Its FAQ says cars can reach the property gate and that Sethan is around 3 km uphill.

Those are current details supplied by the property, not observations from my stay. Road conditions in the mountains can change quickly, so confirm access directly if you’re travelling during rain or snow.

Questions I would ask before paying

Is the dome the same one shown in the reels?

Ask for recent, unedited photographs or a live video of the exact room assigned to you. Confirm the bathroom closure, heating, Jacuzzi setup and anything else that matters to your stay.

What is included in the quoted price?

Get the final amount in writing. Ask whether meals, Jacuzzi use, bonfire arrangements, taxes and transport assistance are included or charged separately.

Can a regular car reach the resort?

The resort’s current FAQ says cars reach its gate without a trek. Weather can still affect a mountain road, so ask about the latest road condition and whether your vehicle type is suitable.

For a different mountain stay, my Sissu snowfall guide describes the view from La Hault and the road restrictions during that visit.

My honest verdict

I wouldn’t book White Musk Resort again at the price I was quoted. The Jacuzzi, food and night view gave me a few good moments, but the finish and service didn’t meet my expectations. If the dome still appeals to you, compare recent guest photographs, ask direct questions and judge the complete price before sending an advance.
