I chose Neemrana Fort Palace for a short break from Gurgaon because it offered something
a regular hotel couldn’t: a night inside a restored hill fort. The drive took us
about three hours during this visit. What stayed with me most was the fort after
sunset, when the terraces, stone walls and courtyards lit up.

This is a record of my stay, not a promise that every activity, meal or price is
still the same. I first published these notes in 2023. I checked the official hotel
information again on 10 September 2026, and I have separated current details from
what happened during my visit.

Neemrana Fort Palace looked especially striking after sunset during my stay.

## What kind of place is Neemrana Fort Palace?

Neemrana Fort Palace is a heritage hotel in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Government tourism
material dates the fort to 1464 to 1467, during the rule of Raja Dup Raj. The property
was acquired for restoration in 1986 and opened as a heritage hotel in 1991. Rajasthan
Tourism also describes it as a 15th-century palace converted into a heritage resort.

The official address is 122nd Milestone, Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Neemrana, Alwar,
Rajasthan 301705. The hotel spreads across a hillside, so moving between rooms,
terraces and common areas can involve stairs and slopes. It feels more like exploring
an old complex than walking through a compact city hotel.

## The drive from Gurgaon and the final approach

We travelled by road from Gurgaon. The Delhi-Jaipur Highway handled most of the
journey, but the final approach inside Neemrana was the part that needed attention.
During our visit, the lane climbing towards the parking area was narrow and steep,
and the signposting wasn’t obvious to us.

That last stretch was manageable, just slower than the highway. If you’re driving
yourself, keep the hotel location open on your phone before leaving the main road.
The official hotel page remains the safest place to confirm the route and contact
details before starting.

## My room and the fort after dark

The rooms here aren’t arranged like identical boxes along one corridor. During my
stay, I saw individually named rooms with old-style furniture, paintings, metal
utensils and decorative boxes. Our room still had practical comforts such as air
conditioning and a private bathroom.

There was no television in the room I saw. I didn’t mind that for one night because
the property itself gave us enough to explore, but anyone expecting every convenience
of a modern chain hotel should know this before booking. The hotel’s own room page
makes a similar point, warning that a heritage property may not offer all the usual
hotel comforts.

The room decor leaned into the fort’s old-world character rather than a modern hotel
look.

My favourite part came later. The fort looked much better at night, with warm lights
picking out the stonework and open terraces. We found places to sit outside, and
the breeze made the evening more comfortable than I expected after a warm day.

## What happened during my stay

Our visit included a short guided walk through the property at about 4:30 pm, followed
by tea and biscuits in an open area. At roughly 7 pm, we watched a Rajasthani cultural
performance near the swimming pool. The performance ran for about an hour during
our stay.

Those timings are from my visit in 2023. They can change with occupancy, weather
or hotel programming, so I would ask the property about the day’s schedule at check-
in instead of planning an evening around these exact times.

One of the open areas we explored inside the hilltop property.

We also saw a swimming pool, spa area and gym. Camel rides, a zipline and a vintage-
car ride were being offered around the property at that time. I have not repeated
the old activity prices because those figures may no longer be useful. The hotel’s
current recreation page lists billiards, table tennis and board games, but availability
is still worth checking directly.

Stone, greenery and changing levels give the property much of its character.

## Dinner and breakfast, as I experienced them

The dinner buffet during my stay covered much more than Rajasthani food. I remember
soup, kebabs, paneer tikka, chicken tikka and fried fish among the starters. The
main course included vegetables, gatta, paneer, chicken, mutton, dal, rice and breads,
with pasta, noodles and fried rice available too.

Dessert included pastries, gulab jamun and rasgulla. The food was served warm, and
staff kept an eye on water and the buffet tables. Still, the spread was broad rather
than sharply focused on regional dishes. If you’re booking mainly for a distinctive
Rajasthani meal, ask what the current menu includes.

Part of the dinner served during my visit.

Breakfast felt more familiar and hotel-like. We found cereals, bread, cheese, eggs
made on request, fruit, juice, tea and coffee, along with idli, aloo paratha and
upma. It was practical and gave us enough choice before checkout.

Breakfast included both familiar hotel choices and Indian dishes during our stay.

## Booking a stay or a daytime visit

I would book through the [official Neemrana Fort Palace website](https://www.neemranahotels.com/fort-palace-neemrana/)
or call the property before paying. Room rates vary by room, date and meal plan,
so the old figures from my 2023 article have been removed.

The hotel’s current room page says day-use rooms may be offered from 9 am to 5 pm,
subject to availability, at 60 percent of the normal room charge. That is not the
same as a guaranteed walk-in sightseeing ticket. Confirm the available day package,
inclusions and access rules directly with the hotel.

If you stay overnight, check whether dinner is included. We found the hotel convenient
because we didn’t have to drive back down the narrow approach after dark. That was
a practical benefit, not just part of the heritage experience.

## What I liked, and what may not suit everyone

The night view was the highlight for me. I also liked that the named rooms, terraces
and uneven layout didn’t feel copied from a regular resort. There was always another
corner to look at, and that made a one-night stay feel different.

The same design creates limitations. There are stairs and slopes, the approach road
felt tight, and my room didn’t have a television. People with limited mobility,
families carrying a lot of luggage, or guests who want a predictable modern layout
should discuss room location and access with the hotel before booking.

The illuminated fort made the evening the most memorable part of my visit.

## Would I choose it for a weekend from Gurgaon?

Yes, for one night, especially if the point is to spend time inside the fort rather
than use it as a base for a packed itinerary. I would arrive with comfortable shoes,
ask for the current activity schedule, and confirm the meal plan before paying.

I wouldn’t choose it purely for luxury or a quiet, uniform hotel experience. I would
choose it for the old rooms, the changing levels, the evening light and the slightly
imperfect character that comes with staying in a restored fort.
