I stopped at Garadia Mahadev while travelling towards Udaipur, and the first proper
look at the Chambal River made the detour feel justified. The river bends around
a broad rocky plateau below the viewpoint, forming the scene that appears in most
photos of this spot. It wasn’t the planned destination for the day, more a break
along the way, but it turned out to be worth the stop on its own.

## How I Got There

I was driving from Gurgaon toward Udaipur, and Kota happened to fall along that
route. Before reaching Garadia Mahadev, I’d already made one other stop that same
morning at Shivpuri Dham, and this was the next place right after. About 1.5 kilometers
before the actual viewpoint, there’s a checkpost where you pay an entry fee, then
continue driving the rest of the way in.

## The Viewpoint and Temple

The parking area sits right at the viewpoint itself, with the Shiva temple a short
walk down from there, not a hike, just a slight descent. What stood out to me at
the temple was the number of individual Shivlings placed around the site, more than
I expected to find at a single stop like this. The main draw, though, is the view:
the Chambal River curving around the rock plateau below, wide open sightlines in
most directions.

## Practical Notes

 * Entry fee collected at a checkpost roughly 1.5 km before the viewpoint
 * Temple is a short walk from the main parking and viewpoint area
 * Good as a stopover if you’re already travelling through or near Kota, not necessarily
   worth a dedicated separate trip
 * From here, Udaipur is roughly 3.5 hours further by road

## Is It Worth the Stop?

If you’re passing through Kota or driving between cities in this direction, yes.
It’s a short, easy detour with a genuinely good view of the Chambal River and a
temple worth the short walk. It’s not a place I’d plan an entire day around, but
as a break in a longer drive, it delivered more than I expected.
